參考范文 | Dental amalgam has been suggested to be dangerous in view of the author while the professor refutes that the danger of mercury has been exaggerated in the reading. First, the professor argues against the point in the reading passage that small amounts of mercury can cause adverse effects when entering into human body, pointing out that small amounts of mercury absorbed by human body has little harm. Bad health is only caused by being allergic to mercury, which happens in a low percentage. Second, it is said in the reading passage that waterways and wildlife can be terribly affected and contamination will be caused by the use of mercury. However, the professor maintains that there is a separator which can be used as a filter to collect solid materials when water passes. Last but not least, on contrary to the points that there can be many other alternatives like gold which is available for being used in dental repairs, the professor argues that mercury has more advantages over any other materials for dental repairs. Since human mouth keeps a constant wet environment, mercury can be longer used. Also other materials, taking gold as an example, is quite expensive per unit. | |

參考范文 | The ever increasingly fierce competition among students nowadays makes it necessary for students to focus more time on study. School should play its supporting role in encouraging students to study hard so as to perform well in academic study but requiring students to arrive school very early in the morning seems not to be a beneficial way. There is no doubt that early in the morning students tend to have a clear mind on condition that they maintain a good sleep last night. However, in view of an overwhelming amount of assignment to do and examinations to prepare, students can hardly maintain sufficient sleep at night. In this case, lack of sleep dramatically lower the study efficiency and productivity. Suffering too much pressure, students may not be able to concentrate on study especially very early in the morning. For instance, when my cousin was in senior high school preparing for College Entrance Examination, their school required all the students to arrive school before 6 o’clock every morning, which means students has to get up around 5 o’ clock so as to be on time. He has complained very often because he studied until midnight only to finish all the assignment and reviews that he could scarcely sleep very well, thus resulting in bad condition of study and what is worse is that getting up too early leads to incapability of focusing and listening carefully in class. Such irrational schedule can only make negative consequences. More importantly, every student must keep an exclusive study habit especially in time arrangement. Researches carried out by educational institutions show that study efficiency depends on some factors that are easily ignored such as different period of time in a day. Some students prefer to study in the morning because they think during that time it seems more probable to keep a clear mind. On the contrary, some other students would rather concentrate on study at night on the grounds that during that period of time there are less distractions and disturbance. Take me as an example, the most favorable period of time for study is undoubtedly late at night. Without any distractions like peers’ talking to each other, I can be more productively doing my study and reviews. Provided that school forces me to follow the official schedule, that is, showing up at school every early, I am convinced that I will be driven crazy, not to mention how adverse it will exert on my study. Admittedly, there are some special cases in which school should be responsible to monitor students in their time arrangement of study. Students who lack self-control and self-motivation, to a large extent, should be required to arrive school very early to do self-study, in the hope that they can make full use of available time. In conclusion, school, served as a significant role in education, should support learning but in some other effective ways rather than requiring students to arrive school too early for study. | |
